Spiritual Warrior

The Spiritual Warrior Program is an optional, Christian program based on the Apostle  Paul's exhortation in Ephesians 6 to "put on the whole armor of God". Interested individuals within the club will be offered the opportunity to study, understand, and apply each item of the armor required to prepare for and to fight their daily spiritual battles.

Guest speakers, both clergy and lay-persons, will be invited to participate in instruction about the various aspects of the armor and to show its application in their own circumstances. Video and print materials will be valuable resources and we will strive to develop a library of books, videos, and audio resources for continued spiritual growth.

The student, who is not necessarily a youth, will be required to exhibit an understanding of and to explain in writing the application of each piece of armor to his/her daily life. Upon completion of each segment, recognition will be given, and the process will continue until all facets have been completed. As one completes the entire program, the participant will receive a special patch for the fencing uniform identifying him/her as a Spiritual Warrior who wields the "Sword of the Spirit". The patch will also serve as a point of witness for those with whom the Warrior comes into contact at the club or at competitions elsewhere.

Perhaps most importantly, this person can now become a mentor to those just starting the program, reinforcing the mentor's understanding and belief and placing them in the habit of being a witness. Subsequently, as the Warriors move on in life to college, jobs, other cities, teams and clubs, they carry this training as seeds to be sown and multiplied where they are planted.
