We Have Moved to a New Location!
After more than a year at Gymnastics, Inc., we've moved to a new, more centralized location. Since December, 2005, CCFA is now based in the Grand Strand Family YMCA in Myrtle Beach.
The facility is located just off Highway 17 Bypass at 65th Avenue North in Myrtle beach. From Hwy. 17 Bypass, turn toward the beach at the stoplight at 62nd Ave. north, make an IMMEDIATE left onto the frontage road, and go about 300 yards. You will go straight into the parking lot of the YMCA.
CCFA fencers will need to join the YMCA, which offers special rates for youths, families, seniors, students, etc. With the lower monthly dues of the YMCA and the new, lower dues of the CCFA, most people will pay about the same or actually less each month for fencing. And, not only do you get to fence, you may use the entire YMCA facilities - weight rooms, fitness equipment, aerobics classes, and more. When you go to sign up be sure to tell them that you are with the fencing group - they have agreed to waive the "joining fee" for us.
Visiting fencers from out of town should call 843-293-2852 and find out about the possibility of a guest pass.
See the Grand Strand YMCA web site.

CCFA Milestone - Our First Anniversary

On August 1st, 2005, CCFA celebrated our anniversary - one year as a fencing club! The event was attended by some of the people who were there on that first night, as well as the brand new fencers. The evening started with a club tournament featuring "wacky-wackers" for new fencers not using foils yet; dry foils for more experienced fencers; and electric gear for the competitive and soon-to-be competive fencers. The better team won. Afterwards, plenty of cake, cookies, brownies, and soda for the fencers and their guests. There were awards for just about every imaginable category.
CCFA's 2005 "Blades at the Beach" Tournament a Success!
The complete tournament results and photos can be found on the CCFA Tournaments page.
